We actually did this on day 1 as our kick off. We had a free hot chocolate stand and had people donate canned goods instead of paying for the hot chocolate. It was freeeeeezing and we didnt get a ton of people but we has a few and what we received was donated to a "Blessings Box" that a local boy scout troop built and put next to a church downtown.
